Audit Commission Member Says City Has “Failed the Taxpayers Miserably”
(HARTFORD, CT) – In a statement, Mayoral candidate Luke Bronin responded to news that Hartford has failed to collect or adequately monitor millions of dollars in loan payments. After setting up a loan committee to monitor the loans in 2010, the committee fell apart in 2011.
“The recent report by Hartford’s Chief Auditor reveals — yet again — some disturbing failures of management and oversight,” said Bronin. “The worst part is that the Segarra administration has been aware of the problem for years, actually put in place a committee to address it in 2010, and then lost focus less than a year later. It’s the same story over and over again: lack of leadership, lack of focus, and failure to follow through.”
