Bronin Tells WNPR that Continuing Nepotism Scandal at City Hall Shows Incumbent’s Failure to Hold His “Most Senior Team Accountable”

News of the nepotism scandal at City Hall continues into today, with another story by WNPR’s Jeff Cohen, in which Pedro Segarra’s former chief attorney points fingers at other City Hall employees with relatives working there. Sandra Kee Borges added, “I was never the hiring or appointing authority for any of these employees… Any sign off by me as alleged was done solely in my role as Acting COO or Acting HR Director.” Huh?

In the interview with WNPR, I emphasized that the nepotism scandal highlights the lack of accountability at the highest levels of the Segarra administration:

“It’s about holding your most senior team accountable. You don’t have to change any collective bargaining agreements to set the tone from the top that there’s an expectation that your corporation counsel is going to tell you when a member of their family, or multiple members of their family, are getting jobs.”

The full story is here. (I was also quoted in the Courant.)
