JOHN GALE ENDORSES LUKE BRONIN FOR MAYOR; ANNOUNCES COUNCIL BID

Gale: “We Simply Can’t Afford Another Four Years of the Status Quo”

(HARTFORD, CT) – John Gale, a lifelong Hartford resident, today announced that he is ending his campaign for mayor and endorsing Luke Bronin’s mayoral bid. Gale announced that he would instead seek a seat on the City Council.

“This race is too important, there is too much at stake. We simply can’t afford another four years of the status quo,” said Gale. “I’ve seen the passion Luke has for this city. I’ve seen his ability to get things done – things that our city desperately needs. As Mayor, he will get Hartford working again, and that’s why today I am proud to announce that he has my support.”

Gale joins a growing coalition of Hartford residents who are fighting to change the City. Some of those residents include Representative Arce, the Greater Hartford Progressive Democratic Women’s Club, civil rights activist Luis Cabán, and retired Hartford Fire Department Chief John B. Stewart, who broke racial barriers to become the first black fire chief of a major city in New England.

“I’ve gotten to know John personally during this campaign, and I know that we share a deep belief in Hartford’s future and in Hartford’s potential,” said Luke. “John has been working his entire life for Hartford. From opening one of the best diners in town, to creating entertainment opportunities on the Connecticut River, John has shown a deep commitment to strengthening the Hartford community.”

“We both know that Hartford desperately needs change at City Hall. If John is elected to City Council, I would be honored to work with him to improve all of our neighborhoods.”
