SENATOR COLEMAN, REPRESENTATIVE MCCRORY, ENDORSE LUKE BRONIN FOR MAYOR

Leaders: “Time for Strong Leadership for All of Hartford”

(HARTFORD, CT) - Pointing to the need for stronger leadership in the city, State Senator Eric Coleman and State Representative Douglas McCrory today endorsed Luke Bronin’s campaign for mayor.

“Hartford needs strong leadership that’s willing to build the partnerships we need to tackle tough issues,” said Senator Coleman. “I’ve known and worked with Luke for years, on issues ranging from the Second Chance Society legislation to the appointment of some of the most diverse groups of judicial appointments in Connecticut’s history. I want a Mayor who is going to tackle the challenges of rising crime, joblessness and neighborhood schools head-on, and who is going to work for all of Hartford, and Luke is the right person for the job.”

“Pedro Segarra spends a lot of time talking about his experience,” said Representative McCrory. “But when you have a city that has higher unemployment than the state average, rising crime and multiple credit downgrades, you have to ask, are these the results we need? It’s clear that we need a change. Luke cares deeply about this city, and with him running City Hall, we’ll have the right leadership in place to get Hartford working again.”

Senator Coleman and Representative McCrory join a diverse coalition of Democrats who are urging residents to vote for change this September, including State Representative Angel Arce, City Council President Shawn Wooden, the Hartford Federation of Teachers, former mayoral candidates John Gale and Robert Killian, the Greater Hartford Progressive Democratic Women’s Club, civil rights activist Luis Cabán, Hartford City Council Members Raúl De Jesús and David MacDonald, and retired Hartford Fire Department Chief John B. Stewart, who broke racial barriers to become the first black fire chief of a major city in New England.

“I’m honored to have the support of Senator Coleman and Representative McCrory,” said Bronin. “They have fought for Hartford for decades at the Capitol, and I’ve been proud to work closely with them for years. They know that Hartford needs a change, and I look forward to working with them every day to make Hartford a stronger, safer city.”
