SHAWN WOODEN ENDORSES LUKE BRONIN FOR MAYOR

COUNCIL PRESIDENT: “I’VE KNOWN LUKE FOR YEARS - HE’S THE PERSON FOR THE JOB”

(HARTFORD, CT) – Shawn Wooden, the Hartford City Council President, today endorsed Luke Bronin for Mayor.

“I’ve been proud to serve the City of Hartford for the last four years,” said Wooden. “My biggest concern is that we have the right leadership in place over the next four years. We need someone who can lead the city, move it forward and take the steps we all believe are necessary to get Hartford working again.

“For me, this isn’t a political endorsement,” Wooden continued. “I’ve known Luke for years, and I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that he’s the person for the job.

Wooden joins a diverse coalition of Democrats who are urging residents to vote for change this September, including State Representative Angel Arce, the Hartford Federation of Teachers, former mayoral candidates John Gale and Robert Killian, the Greater Hartford Progressive Democratic Women’s Club, civil rights activist Luis Cabán, Hartford City Council Members Raúl De Jesús and David MacDonald, and retired Hartford Fire Department Chief John B. Stewart, who broke racial barriers to become the first black fire chief of a major city in New England.

“I’ve known Shawn since I worked at his law firm more than ten years ago,” said Bronin. “His endorsement means so much because he cares deeply about this city and its future. He knows firsthand the need for strong leadership in the Mayor’s office. With his support, I know we are one step closer to getting Hartford working again for all its residents.”
